Hotels in Oslo

Participants at the Seventh International Symposium on Runes and Runic Inscriptions must make their own housing arrangement in Oslo. (Plenary speakers should, however, make their housing arrangements through the organising committee.)

The conference hotel is the Rica Holberg Hotel, just 2-3 minutes walk from the Historical Museum which houses part of the Museum of Cultural History, University of Oslo, including in particular the Runic Archives. Thus it is about a 5-minute walk to the conference venue in the old university buildings.

You may alternatively make reservations by e-mail to rica.holberg.hotel@rica.no or by calling telephone number +47-23157200. The University of Oslo has an agreement with the hotel which gives over 30% reduction on a single room, even more on a double room. The price for 2010 is NOK 965 for a single room (including breakfast), and also NOK 965 total for a double room (including breakfast)! When booking a room you must inform the hotel that you are participating at a conference sponsored by the University of Oslo in order to obtain the reduced price; this you do by using the reference number for our order. Please include in your reservation request the following information:

• Reference number for the conference ("Kampanjekode"): 5227299
• Name, telephone number (with international prefix), and e-mail address
• For those arriving after 4 PM: Credit card number and date of expiry

Other nearby hotels offer single rooms for less, but not with the same standard. One could suggest:

• Haraldsheim Youth Hostel (2009: NOK 470 for single room with bath and breakfast), 5 km, 30 minutes by public transportation

• Internet: Quite frequently one can get a good special deal on internet pages such as http://www.hotell.no. Be sure, however, to check location, as proximity to the old university buildings will save time.
