Students/Seniors: NOK 80

Staff and students at UiO: Free

Refugees/asylum seekers: Free

Season ticket, adult: NOK 400

Groups over 10 people: NOK 50 per person

Groups planning to see the exhibitions on their own do not need to make a reservation in advance.

  • A ticket gives you admission to both museums for 48 hours.
  • Tickets are available from the ticket office at the museum entrance.
  • There is no need to buy tickets up front. We do not sell tickets online. 
  • We accept Mastercard, Visa, Maestro, Oslo Pass, and ICOM cards.

There is no dedicated parking at the museum. Visitors kan use public parking in the area.

Museum shop and café

Viking Ship Museum

The shop has a wide range of goods related to the Viking era: jewelry, souvenirs, games and toys, and books about the Viking age for children and adults.

In the summer, visitors can purchase light food and drink at the outdoor public café.

Historical Museum

The shop has a wide range of jewelry, books and magazines related to archeology, history, anthropology and numismatics. We also have postcards, souvenirs and toys.

There is no food or drink service at the museum, but there are cafés and restaurants in the immidiate vicinity.

Accessibility and facilities

At the Viking Ship Museum

  • The building has two floors. The exhibition space is wheelchair accessible with exception of the upper balconies. The offices on the 1st floor are accessible through a side door.
  • Entrances: The main entrance is wheelchair accessible, but the door is heavy. The side entrances are for staff only. Please notify the staff if you need assistance.
  • Lift: A wheelchair lift is available inside.
  • Toilets: A number of toilets are located in the basement. Toilets for disabled persons are also in the basement, and are accessible by a wheelchair lift. One HC-toilet is for the public and one is for the staff.
  • Accessibility: Some interior doorways have high thresholds, non-standard widths and heavy doors. The building is not equipped with a wire loop. Please notify the staff if you need assistance or if there are other ways we can accommodate you.

At the Historical Museum

  • The building has four floors and a basement. The southern wing on the 3rd floor is not wheelchair accessible.
  • Entrances: Three entrances are accessible by steps. One entrance at the back of the museum is accessible for wheelchair users.
  • Lift: The museum has a cargo lift (295cm x 205cm) at the back of the museum. To use the lift, patrons must ring the telephone number posted by the front entrance.
  • Toilets: Toilets are located on the landing between the 1st and 2nd floors. Toilets for disabled persons are located on the 3rd floor.
  • Accessibility: Some interior doorways have high thresholds, non-standard widths and heavy doors. The building is not equipped with a wire loop. Please notify the staff if you need assistance or if there are other ways we can accommodate you.
