Oscar Mamen in Urga, fall 1911

Mamen originally travelled to Mongolia to establish an office for the British American Tobacco Company (BAT). He was invited by his cousin Alfred Rustad, who had already worked in China for ten years. While wondering when the revolution in China would reach Urga, they hired a cook and a language teacher, rented houses for living and storage, and bought horses. Here, Oscar stands outside their first BAT Urga office, sometime between October and December 1911.
