The Mongolian declaration of independence

On December 1 1911, the Mongolian declaration of independence was hung in several places around Urga. The onlookers could read: 'Because our Mongolia originally had been an independent nation, we have now decided, after consultations, to establish a newly independent nation, based on our old tradition, without the interference of others in our own rights. Our Mongolia should not be ruled by the Manchu–Chinese officials'.The proclamation firmly encouraged a peaceful transition of power, stating that 'we do not intend that ordinary honest merchants should suffer'.
