The Russian district, Konsuliin denj.
The Russian post office is seen to the top left (exact location unknown. Mamen placed the post office in the backyard of the consulate), above a photograph Rustad took at this location in 1911 or 1912, its caption ‘V.V Burdakovsky, Imperial Russian Postmaster’. The Russian Consulate and Urga’s only church can be seen on top, and to the right, the Mongolor building, the Russian gold mine office. Mamen’s friend Zaparin lived in one of the houses in the Mongolor's backyard. He is seen arranging a photograph with his daughter and niece, leaving Urga on 18 July with his wife and child. Mamen placed the house of the Russian merchant Mr. Prokin between the consulate and Mongolor; it might be one of the two-storey buildings in Jugder’s painting, as indicated by the yellow dotted line.
