Bird trap

(UEM12214) Rev. Bodding’s notes: 'Especially used in fields where the birds have become used to come to feed.As bait is spread the same kind of seed that grows there. A stone is placed on the top hole, partly to prevent birds from escaping, partly to hold the trap down by its weight. Through this hole the bird is taken out. Normally the hands of the Santals are not bigger than that this can be easily done. The same mechanism as the one in this trap is also used for catching rats. Then just a stone slab or a strip of wood is used instead of the bamboo wicker.' Material: Vegetable fibre, bamboo. Length: 56 cm, width: 47 cm, height: 16 cm.
