Research
My academic interests span over a wide range of topics. Primarily my research have focused on the Stone Age hunting and foraging societies in the coastal areas of Southern Norway, as well as the Neolithic and the introduction of agriculture. My doctoral dissertation from 2012 focuses on the social processes involved in the transition to the Neolithic.
Thematically, I have worked to understand population development and demography in prehistory. Population dynamics and demographic processes is key to understand developments in prehistoric societies, such as changes in economy, knowledge transfer, mobility, and migration. Another topic of interest to me is how past societies and populations have been affected by climatic changes, and I have conducted studies focusing on both the Stone Age and the Iron Age.
As a project leader for both large and small excavation projects, I have worked with sites and archaeological materials from various periods and from multiple areas of Southern and Eastern Norway.
