Whistling bottle. Double chambered spout and bridge bottle in form of a sea bird.

(UEM10094) The bottle has the form of a seated sea bird (Sula variegata; span.: Piquero Peruano?) in the front chamber. The elliptic rear chamber has a conical spout. The two parts are connected by a tube and a handle so that the air can flow through the whistle in the handle behind the bird´s head, the fingerholes in the handle allow a variation of pitch. Mold made. Smudge fired black ware, highly polished. Chimú, 1000–1470, Peru.
