Axel Mjærum (born 1978) is an associate professor and a field archaeologist at the Museum of Cultural History, University of Oslo. He has been involved in several major excavation projects between 2003 and 2019, concerning sites from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages. Mjærum has published about 20 peer-reviewed articles concerning economy, technology, and chronology, covering many parts of prehistory. Much of his later research has a focus on the hunting, fishing, and farming traditions of eastern Norway. Mjærum has also edited books several books and in 2014–2015 he was Editor-in-Chief of the archaeological journal Viking.
